2nd Rule of disc bocce'Statement of Intent' MUST be made prior to the throwing of the bocce disc by a frame's first player.

Beverage – any given potable liquid refreshment

Bitch/Frame Bitch – that person, male or female, that lost a point by in a previous round due to being farthest from the bocce disc. This person must play last while being bitch, regardless of current score, and is responsible for transporting the marker to the landing zone of the current round. After determination of the winner of a current round, the ‘Bitch’ must relinquish the marker to the current round winner so he/she may select the

Blind Bocce – This term denotes a thrown bocce disc that is not immediately visible from the point of throw

Bocce – (pronounced bo’-chee) An olde lawn “bowling” game based upon petanque, and modernized in Italy. A pellino (small target ball) is thrown by one player, and all players attempt to throw bocce balls as close as possible to the pellino. Disc bocce is loosely based upon this sport.

Bocce Disc – Unlike traditional bocce, disc bocce nomenclature calls the target disc itself the 'bocce'.

Bocc-off – (pronounced boch’-off) In the case where there is a tie vote in visual determination of a winner or loser of a particular round, the tied winning/losing players may agree to a bocc-off in which a non-tied player. See ???

Central Axis – That imaginary line perpendicular to a disc’s center point.

Colemite Rule - Nobody really remembers what the Colemite rule was at this time. But we had one, and it was meritorious enough to be named as such in honor of Colemite. If at such time we 1) remember what the rule in question was, or 2) devise a new rule based upon a Colemite moment, we shall then update this rule. Until then, just know that it did, does, and will always exist.

Disc – See also Player's Disc

Duct Tape – Traditionally, a multi-purpose adhesive fabric available in a variety of colors (primarily grey). Clear duct-tape may be utilized for adhering a Luminescent Device to a bocce disc or player's disc, and is the recommended method for doing so.

Flapper - In cases whereby a luminescent source is inappropriately affixed to a player's disc with standard packing tape, it can lose it's adhesion after several throws. The term flapper is in reference to the noise made by this loose tape 'flapping' in the wind. Clear duct tape is the recommended agent for super-terrific luminescent source affixation.

Johnny Rotten Radius Method (JRRM) - Taking a scientific approach (because it may actually work, bitches), one Mr Rotten utilizes a line-of-sight measurement method in cases wherein a winning/losing disc may not be apparent. In essence, he rather fastidiously walks around the scoring zone in an attempted perfect circle whose central point originates from the bocce disc and henceforth encapsulates any discs in question. While this is one of the non-conventional approval "measuring devices" approved for use in bocce, it will, in most cases....

Line of Play – an imaginary line crossing the marker (point of play) approximately perpendicular to the starting player's throw. This is analagous to the 'line of scrimmage' concept in US Football. This line may not be crossed by any player from the time when the 'Statemenet of Intent' is first spoken, until he or she has thrown his disc in turn.

Luminescent Device - Any item, affixed to a player's disc or the bocce disc that enhances its visibility in low light situations (i.e. night, after the apocalypse, in a basement)

Mando (Mandatory) -

Marker/Mini Marker – an implement utilized to mark the point of play for the throw of the bocce disc, and subsequent throws of all player discs. A standard disc golf mini is preferred, but any small (6 inch diameter or less) item is allowed if agreed upon by all participating competitors.

Measuring Device - the only acceptable method of determining a round winner /and or loser by measurement is the human eye. Unacceptable methods include, but are not limited to: pacing off, sticks, string, flipping a disc end-to-end, or other methods of the like. Visual judgement and a majority vote are the only methods allowed. See also the "Johnny Rotten Radius Method" (JRRM).

"One Disc Only" Rule - The rule that states that each player may only utilize one (1) player disc for an entire round. If, after playing an entire round, a player wishes to utilize a different disc for a subsequent round, that player may opt to do so. To aide in abiding by this rule, no player is allowed to carry more than one player's disc during a round.

Player One - That player who begins a bocce frame by: 1) winning the previous frame, thereby earning player one status for the current frame 2) opting the game call privilege, whereby said player is the person who suggested the game 3) in the case of no player stepping up and starting the damn game due to excessive hubbub, just freakin' throws the bocce disc to begin the round

Player's Disc

Point - The scoring measurement used in Disc Bocce. All players start at zero points. Points are gained or lost during each frame. The ultimate winner of a round is determined by that person reaching a predetermined point total.

Point Vote

Round - One full game of Disc Bocce, beginning at the time the first Player One utters his/her 'Statement of Intent,' and ending when a person accumulates the predetermined winning point total.

Scoring Zone -

Six Foot Drop Rule - The rule stating that at the start of a new frame the marker disc must be placed no more than six feet within the location of the previous frame's bocce location. Certain conditions allow for a bending of this rule. See the start of play section for details.

Starting Player -

Statement of Intent – This is the verbal declaration of intent by player one during any given frame. Failure to utter the 'statement of intent' at the required time by player one merits a penalty.

Acceptable forms of the Statement of Intent are:
Bocce (pronounced bo'-chee)
Bocc (pronounced boch')

Unacceptable forms of the Statement of Intent are:

Verticality Rule

Woogie Rule – The rule that states that no other words may be spoken by player one between the time he/she utters the ‘statement of intent’ and the time the thrown bocce disc first touches the ground. If for any given reason the bocce disc never makes contact with the ground after being thrown, that end time shall be considered the moment when the bocce disc comes to full rest (i.e. in a tree, inside the bed of a vehicle, in water, etc). This rule was enacted after one Mike W. (a.k.a Hippie Mike, a.k.a. Woogie, a.k.a. Jeezus-will-you-shut-the-fuck-up-already-and-get-a-haircut) debated endlessly about the timing aspects of the 'Statement of Intent.' OK, well not really endlessly, but it damn sure seemed like it.
